How Long Does it Take to Charge the BioLite Campstove 2 - Time and Wood Used
I recently purchased a BioLite Campstove 2 and wanted to know how long it would take to charge my smartphone and how much wood it would require to get a full charge.
How to Charge a Device with a BioLite Campstove 2
Start a fire inside the BioLite 2 and get your fan speed dialed in so that it becomes smokeless. It will kick on automatically once it detects the flame has been started inside. On the left you have a fire heat indicator which you want maxxed out at all times. In the middle is your fan speed and on the right you have a battery level indicator which should be blinking to indicate your battery is charging.
The fan speed that worked best for me was around 75 percent for the majority of the test. I am using hardwood that I have cut into a size that’s convenient for me (six inches long by one and one half inches thick).
One hour in and the battery is still charging. The fire is nice and hot. At one hour and twenty-four minutes we have full battery charge on the device. Then it goes into shut down mode. The temperature begins to decrease, the fan speed drops to zero. The embers burn down then it automatically shuts off and you are left with a full battery.
How Long Does it Take to Charge a BioLite Campstove 2 Battery?
I repeated this test twice and each time it took less than 1.5 hours. It took twenty-two pieces of hardwood (six inches long by one and one half inches thick). Once the battery is charged you can use that energy to charge your smartphone or devices. You’ll have 2600 milliamps of power to put into whatever you want.
How Much Will it Charge A Device?
It depends on the device you’re using. If you’re using a small phone it will give it a lot more charge than if you have a big phone like the S9 Plus, or tablets. You likely won’t get a full charge out of this, but it will charge it a decent amount. It will also charge a device while you are burning the fire.
How is it Different than the BioLite 1?
This test was done with nothing plugged into the usb charger, so it was only charging the battery and running the fan. That is an awesome upgrade from the BioLIte 1, which had a small battery to get the fan going, but was not enough to charge your smartphones and devices later on. This one has more power to run the fan and charge that battery or a device.
If you charge a device at the same time the battery will charge slower because it is sending most of its power to the device, but it will still charge the battery if you have the fire giong nice and hot.
